We need sensible growth in Howard County – our infrastructure has not kept pace with development. The council is faced with a genuine opportunity to make real, meaningful, lasting change in our communities with the APFO bill mentioned in the article (read my testimony here).
I oppose the Laurel TIF – I don’t believe it’s the right time or the right project. I mentioned in my testimony for CR 111 (which, unfortunately passed) that I would have preferred the County use a TIF for Laurel over Downtown Columbia but I recognize that that train has left the station.
This development will add 1,000 units to an already congested area and will strain our systems which are already over capacity.
